Readaptation

Per Meredith's request. We arrived back at our house Saturday evening around 5:30pm. This was late enough in the day that fatigue could be valiantly held at bay for the few hours left until a reasonable bed time for the time zone. We all ate dinner at the usual time and went to bed pretty much at the usual time. Maëva woke up a couple times during the night, but it's hard to know to what that should be attributed. It may simply be in large part due to her cold which seems to have worsened over the past few days. I got Maëva and myself up at 8:30 the next morning so we wouldn't be too much off schedule. She napped yesterday afternoon at the normal time and went to bed last night at the normal time. Unfortunately, she woke up a couple hours later and didn't seem tired at all. She had gone to bed at what was nap time State-side and then woke up after a normal nap period. It took me over an hour to get her back to sleep and I finally had to leave her room and let her bawl it out. Oh well. We got up at 8:30 again today (we're usually up between 7 and 7:30). All in all, the readaptation process seems to be going the best ever in all of my 14 years of living in France. I attribute it to the good flight times, leaving late from DC and getting in late to Marseille. We'll have to try to reproduce these arrangements in the future.

I scheduled an evening flight for my most recent trip to Europe, and I thought it worked out better for me, too. I am terrified (based on past experience) of having to navigate some tricky bit of traveling at a time when my body is convinced it should be asleep. Too many nightmares result!

They seem to be mostly evening flights, but there's a big difference between leaving from the East coast at 5pm and leaving at 10pm. The later the better.
