We went to a restaurant down the street for dinner this evening, as we're still working on organizing our belongings, and it's hard to cook. Ying Thai Kitchen, in an old house on the avenue. Ordered the dish mentioned in the title: deep fried salmon with asparagus in sweet and sour tamarind sauce. If anything, the sauce was in excess, but it was super tasty. Similar to teriyaki, but less salty and more sour. Other dishes, including avocado green curry, were also good.
We've already been twice to a different Thai restaurant a block closer to our apartment (once in April), and we have a glowing recommendation for yet another closer to downtown, but I expect this will be a favorite.

A good Thai restaurant -- hope that's a symptom of a generally congenial neighborhood! Looking forward to hearing more about it as you explore. And congrats on successfully making that cross-country trek -- I guess we do have covered-wagon trekking back there in our blood somewhere, but still, that sounded like a major logistical, emotional, and physical feat for everyone involved.

Our internet service is supposed to arrive tomorrow. After that, look for more regular updates. In the meantime, we'll get a few more boxes out of the way. We may have been putting off pictures because of too much extraneous stuff.
