Clear, but cold and very windy here.
Groceries and work day for me: School drop off. Organic market, errands. Work. Grocery pickup. More work. Interesting presentation on Poe's "Eleonora" by my Japanese student this evening. She thought the narrator's claim that his madness was proof of logical reasoning was made in an attempt to discredit credibility and encourage readers to seek a more emotional rather than a literal truth.
As of yesterday, France has also suspended use of the Astra Zeneca vaccine pending results of an investigation into blood clots by an EU body, which may come out Thursday. The French government is currently saying all adults who wish to will be able to be vaccinated by the end of the summer. However, if Astra Zeneca is not green-lighted soon, that could be a problem for the vaccination calendar. Or, it could be a windfall if less people want to get vaccinated as a result, as one commentator wryly remarked this morning. The radio also reported that hospital Covid occupancy in the Paris region has now surpassed the peak from the second lockdown in November. President Macron may be announcing stricter measures again on Thursday. There are also reports of another potentially notable variant detected in Bretagne. This particular one is worrisome for the fact that it generates negative results on PCR tests.
