Friday at noon there was a showing of the house to a potential buyer - the house is not official on the market yet, but this is a pre-qualified buyer who has been looking for a house in this neighborhood. We loaded up the car with things to take to the transfer station, some old ammo to take to the police station, and Boose. We didn't want her to be in the house while it was being shown. We had a nice circuit planned to stop by the police station, then the vet (to get supplies to give Boose some fluids before the trip), the transfer station, and the paper shredding drop off place, and left the house about 11:40.
The plan fell apart at the first stop, because the ammo dropoff was a protracted affair. First, waiting for a police officer to come, then waiting while he consulted with people because the ammo was old and he wasn't sure what to do. Etc. As a result, we missed the vet as they close for lunch at 12:30. Instead, we stopped for lunch and I'll have to stop at the vet this week. On to the transfer station, then paper shredding, then home after 1:30.
The potential buyer is interested enough in the house to come look at it again, which we just found out late last night. We don't know yet when they'll be coming, but we suggested noon again.
Yesterday, the furniture that we're donating was hauled away so the house is emptier now. Several other large items that aren't in good enough shape to be donated were moved to the garage. Pam and I will be able to get them out to the street for a special pick-up on Wednesday by the county. Some will be recycled, some go to the trash. If we were staying we would look into having them repaired. The couch and love seat, for example, are fine except for some upholstery on the back and corners that was used by cats for scratching. It's kind of a shame that so much stuff that is still quite serviceable is tossed aside.
The rest of the day I wrapped and packed some of the fragile things. We have another week, and I think we'll make it!
