Lascours Lockdown, Day 707

Sunday, February 20th. 

The girls finished their homework this morning. Maëva had some grammar lessons to study and an optional poem to memorize. She's almost earned enough poetry points to get her poetry champion certificate. If she gets the maximum eight points on this one, she'll only be one point shy. Here's a video of her reciting it.

Laureva had spelling to practice in French and English. She also had a poem to memorize. Hers is about a tree. She didn't want me to record her, though.

After lunch, we picked up Gabrielle and went to Aubagne to see the movie King. It's a French movie about a girl who finds a trafficked lion cub in her Orly home and tries to get him back to Africa. Quite an adventure ensues. It wasn't the best movie in the world. Quite formulaic. However, all three girls seemed to quite enjoy it. Afterwards, we had drinks and ice cream at a café on the square near the theater.

Sylvain has been battling a migraine this weekend due possibly to poor sleeping posture. Anyway, he didn't feel well enough to read tonight, so after hangout, we only did English story time. When I went down to tuck the girls in at 8:40, I told them they could read for twenty minutes before lights out, but to my surprise, they both declined and asked to have lights off immediately.

I recently finished Season 7 of The Blacklist, which I'd been watching for mindless entertainment while exercising. The final episode was being filmed when the pandemic hit. To complete it, they made animated sections to fill in the scenes that hadn't been filmed yet, so it alternates back and forth between scenes with the real actors and animated scenes. 

The downward Covid trend continues. With R at 0.57 in PACA as of February 12th, the incidence rate is fallling fast. As of February 17th, it was finally below a thousand again, at 924.8.
