Dusty reruns

Our neighbors across the alley who have been renovating the old house there had accumulated a huge pile of dirt in the back yard. It must have come from the basement, but I'm not sure what's going on. Anyway, there were a couple workers here all day Saturday moving the dirt into a truck and hauling it away. It took multiple trips. It hasn't rained in a while, so it was very dusty. Our car was out of the garage, and collected a nice coating. Nicole took it to the car wash before dinner.

I spent some of my morning watering plants and distributing some compost. It has been dry but not too hot, so things are doing OK, so long as the rabbits haven't eaten them. We still haven't acquired any rabbit proof fencing, but maybe soon, when we need more supplies for the basement project.

In the afternoon, we finished framing the second wall of the utility closet. We also put up some boards between the joists above where the wall stops. It took a few hours.

Nicole, Rachel, and I walked to pick up dinner from Malena's and dessert from Ken's. After dinner, we watched the first half of the Fantastic Beasts movie again, having discovered that Rachel wanted to watch it after all. The rest of the kids joined us for ice cream and the second half. While we waited for Rachel, Nicole and I watched the first episode of an anime called Dr. Stone. It's about rebuilding civilization after an improbable catastrophe.

Rachel spent a long time on the phone with USAA today, and passed through six different people before the last one figured out that she can't activate her debit card on her phone until the checking account has been open for thirty days. Too bad they can't include that in the error message.
