Monday morning we tried to work some more on the basement, but when my last drill bit broke, it put a damper on things. Nicole discovered that the hardware store was open, though, and we stopped there later to restock and eventually got a little more done.
Eric seemed to need a break from the house, so we all went to Maple Leaf Park instead of having lunch. The kids all played on the playground for a while, then everyone but Colin went up to the field above the park to play frisbee. Nicole stayed in the car the whole time, and had an encounter with a family who confused our car for theirs.
Rachel convinced us to stop at Timeless Tea on the way home, or Master Meow's Tea House, if you prefer. Lydia wanted to try the durian smoothie, but wasn't sure she would like it, so I ordered it. It had lychee and maybe coconut as well. I think it was an experience worth having.
Paola and family came over for dinner. We picked up food from a Mediterranean restaurant in Lower Queen Anne. After they left, it was almost time for fireworks. We hadn't made any plans to watch them, but Nicole found them on her phone. We thought they'd be broadcast on TV, and tuned into the channel, but they were showing coverage from New York.
There were several things we didn't do today. Nicole suggested watching Independence Day. We ran out of time. I suggested watching Hamilton again, but nobody else wanted to. Fireworks holidays always call for Hanabi, a fireworks-themed cooperative card game, but I didn't think about it until too late.

No parades in the Seattle area?
Durian smoothie?! Anwyl will be right over. He got to like durian when he was sent to Malaysia for work.
