Loners

Friday I decided to work from home, in part because I knew I'd be running meetings later and thought that would go better from my home setup, which is probably true. I got a notice about an annual training I needed to take, which, combined with those meetings, made for a not very productive day.

Nicole took the kids to visit more libraries as soon as the cleaners arrived. They also spent some time at the park, timing their laps and inline skating. Rachel ran what they think was just over a quarter mile in 1:42 on her second try. Lydia did it in 2:07, and Eric in 2:04. It seems Colin failed to register an official result due to shortcuts.

Rachel sent me a photo that I interpreted to mean that there was a huge line at the bakery they had planned to visit. I guess they made other arrangements, getting crepes for lunch. They returned some time in the afternoon, I think after my meetings were over, then Nicole went by herself to do some more tests related to her ankle.

She got a bunch of blood work results yesterday that would seem to rule out gout and other candidates for the cause of her ankle ailment. I think she said she has an appointment with a specialist to investigate further, next week. Today she also procured appointments for the kids to get vaccine boosters on Sunday.

Tomorrow we are taking the ferry to San Juan Island, of the San Juan Islands, for the day. Abhinav sent us his reservation, which they no longer needed. So, when work was done I transitioned to preparing for the trip. We have to be at the ferry terminal in Anacortes, about ninety minutes away, before 8:30 tomorrow.

In the evening I took photos of our only cherry, only pear, and only fig. They'll help commemorate the terrible fruit season. I didn't photograph the apples, because there are two of them.

I tried to convene reading time early tonight, but still didn't wrap up until almost ten, because I read two short chapters instead of one longer one, as usual. We're only three away from the end of book three. I'm also about forty pages away from the end of The Sparrow, which appears to be saving a lot of suffering for a short span.

Hmmm. I wonder if we can all get boosted over there in August. Here, it's still not authorized for any of our age groups.

That is one beautiful cherry! We hope the trees will come back bursting after a year of relative rest.
