I've been meaning to write a post about Maëva's first year of maternelle ever since school ended on July 3rd. Maëva's first year of preschool was a success. She loved her teacher, Carole, and her classroom aide, Aurélie. I didn't have any expectations, and was pleasantly surprised that by the end of the year Maëva could write her name from memory, color inside the lines, and pedal a tricycle. The report card we had to sign at the end of the year had a three-page-long list of various checked-off skills. However, the three above are the ones that were most impressive to me. The teacher says Maëva is a little too shy about speaking up in a group. Otherwise, no problems to report. Nearly every day, Maëva brought home a drawing. Her drawing skills also progressed. Here is her drawing of "a pink monster" from the first day of school (September 2, 2014):
