Lascours Lockdown, Day 445

Wednesday, June 2nd. Happy 13th Birthday to Rachel!

It rained overnight and was still sprinkling this morning. As a result, the girls' tennis lesson was canceled. So at 9, I left them playing Mario Kart as I had promised to help Fred with the PTA hand towels and metal boxes order. Duo and the Nest Hub came in handy when I needed to the girls to show me the dish towels from previous years. We finished around 11:30 and I came home to get lunch ready. While I was there, Fred got a call from Célèste's school, which is also Sylvain's school. Her class is being closed for a week due to a Covid case. It will open again on June 8th, but students will have to present proof of a negative Covid test in order to return.

Laureva, who has recently been claiming not to like English books, told me at lunch time that she was going to try one of the books Maëva's reading: Dork Diaries. She started the first one during reading time. Meanwhile, Maeva was on the fourth. They also brought them along to their orthodontist checkups this afternoon and Maeva was able to finish volume four. It was a checkup for Maeva and an initial assessment for Laureva. There's nothing to be done until Maeva gets all of her adult teeth in and Laureva loses more of her baby teeth. Laureva had a panoramic x-ray and space in her jaw doesn't appear as tight as it was for Maeva at the same age. They'll go back in a year for another checkup.

We stopped for bakery treats on the way home. Then the girls sat down to continue Maeva's Reading Rally until it was time for Zoom Drama. Meanwhile, I spent about an hour trying to get the wireless transfer function to work from my new camera to my laptop. I finally started a chat with a tech who had me do a bunch of things, most of which I'd already done, to no avail. I signed off to make dinner. Then it occurred to me to try again with the computer connected to the Ethernet. Success! Apparently, we don't have enough wireless bandwidth for photo transfer, Zoom and television at the same time. The radio was reporting today that fifty percent of adults in France have now received one dose of vaccine.
