Sequestered in Seattle, Day 450

Friday morning was cloudy and I woke up later than on the bright sunny mornings. Nicole and I watered the yard while the piano technician returned with the repaired key cover. The piano is fully intact, now, but the hammers and key bushings are showing signs of wear and we may have them replaced the next time we're due for tuning.

In the garden, I found a few more sprouted sunflowers, and then I pulled up something that I realized was last year's scarlet runner bean. I had read they were technically perennial, but wasn't sure they'd come back. I put this one, with two sprouts but no leaves yet, back in the ground, and looked around for others. In the back yard with the honeysuckle I found one with three sets of leaves already. Promising!

In the front yard, more irises are blooming, including this one much lighter in color than the others.

Unusually for Friday, Eric had class, I guess because there'd been no class on Monday. I had my final morning sync with one of my teammates who is starting on a new team next week. He joined us last March and sadly still hasn't met any of us in person. Well, not as teammates, anyway. We knew him from before because his son went to preschool with Colin.

Nicole and Rachel spent much of the afternoon out and about, picking up cupcakes for Rachel's party this evening, and dropping off thank yous for Nicole's PTA colleagues. After dinner from Giddy Up, Nicole took Rachel down to Interbay to play mini golf with three of her friends. They had a great time.

Meanwhile, I harvested all of the fava beans. It was time to make room for the summer plants. The tomatillos and tomatoes should appreciate the extra sun. I also discovered another sprouted potato in the side yard growing underneath one of the beans. I took out a big bowl to hold all the beans, but it wasn't big enough.

While Nicole was picking Rachel up from golf, I worked on shelling the beans that didn't fit in the bowl. It's a process. I was only maybe half done when they returned, so Nicole helped with the rest.

Obviously there's more work to do tomorrow. We finished the night with the last episode of Merlin season four and the first of the fifth and final season.
