A little grainy

Tuesday I made Lydia a sandwich of quince paste and homemade peanut butter for lunch. She expressed a preference long ago for bread and cheese, which evolved to buttered bread and cheese, but recently she seems to have tired of it, often only eating half. I'm working on mixing things up.

We ran out of peanut butter on Saturday, but I had the harebrained idea to make it from scratch, which turned out to be a fine idea. It only took about three minutes in the food processor, I just added a little salt and some maple syrup, which was probably optional, and it's still spreadable even after several days in the fridge. I didn't achieve the creamy smoothness of commercial peanut butters—it remains a little grainy. I bet more time in the food processor would get it closer, but probably not all the way. It's plenty good as is, though.

Tuesday evening, I walked home and got the bike to pick up the boys. Nicole was teaching base conversions and repeating fractions at MathCounts. She went to pick up Rachel after dropping Lydia at home, and they got our dinner from Malena's. Rachel was excited to receive a package from France. All I got in the mail was a doctor's bill.

I'd forgotten about that. Hope she finds the book interesting.
