Weekend interrupted

It may be a bad news weekend. We got up early Saturday to get Lydia to her 8:30 basketball game in northeast Seattle. But when we arrived there were two other teams, neither the scheduled opponent. Or so we thought. We eventually learned that the schedule had changed but the athletic director at Hamilton wasn't notified, so neither were we. They salvaged the situation by playing a round robin, one quarter at a time, so Lydia's team got to play the middle two quarters.

We were supposed to have a small birthday celebration for Colin in the afternoon at a pinball arcade, but Rachel's friend texted that she was sick with COVID, and then Rachel's test came up positive, too. Babysitting for Saturday evening: cancelled. Team bonding Sunday evening: cancelled. So far the rest of us are testing negative, even with the nucleic acid amplification tests, but we postponed Colin's party, too. I'm not sure yet about the boys' ski lessons tomorrow.

Rachel is holed up in her room for the moment, and we'll wear masks in the house to try to maintain the status quo. It's going to be an interesting week. Rachel seemed asymptomatic at first, but since then complained of a sore throat and body aches. I'm hoping it's a mild case, at worst.

Fingers crossed for as much ease as possible this weekend.

Get well wishes to Rachel, and stay well wishes to the rest of you. Having been through this before, I can say that, though it's a pain, it's definitely worth the trouble if you can prevent others from getting sick. Lots of love.
