After lunch we drove to the end of the road at the Devil's Garden Campground, from which there are longer hikes that we weren't intrepid enough to undertake, and then came back a short way to the parking lot at the Broken Arch trail, where we took a short, flat walk through the sand to Sand Dune Arch. We walked through sheer walls, took a picture in one corner, and then found the Sand Dune Arch full of people, and quickly turned around to return to the car.
It was still early in the afternoon, about 2:30 according to the photo timestamp, and we didn't want to go back to the RV park yet, and brave more heat. At the visitor center, I had studied the map of Canyonlands, and noticed there was another entrance to it that we weren't planning to visit the next day. I proposed driving the 75 miles or so to that entrance, and putting off the swimming pool until later. Nicole agreed. The children were hostage, and came along for the ride.
