Wednesday, June 24th. Reopening Day 45. 31° forecast high again. Cicada song had already begun by seven-thirty. Mixed in with morning bird song. Happy Birthdays to Nora, Jimmy and Jean-Louis!!!
Hard time getting the girls to breakfast. They were both reading on the couch. Yesterday in Science, Maëva learned about the earth's rotation (on its axis and around the sun) and how that creates seasons. She tried to explain it to Laureva using some leftover birthday balloons.
Later, the girls opened up their joint birthday gift from Roy & family: Machi Koro Expansions! We tried out the Harbor Expansion right away. I won easily thanks to my Harbor and three Tuna Boats. We really enjoyed it. It's even more fun with the variety that comes with the expansions. The game prompted a discussion of what a city needs: how many of various different professions and businesses? Maëva imagined a city of 4 million and wanted to know how many doctors, dentists, schools, teachers, etc. would be needed in a city of that size.
Sylvain went out to lunch in La Ciotat with math teacher colleagues. They're currently allowing parties of up to ten.
This afternoon, Laureva and I played HP trivia and Zombie dice, the girls had piano and went swimming with Sylvain, and I made eggplant and tomato lasagna.
