In lieu of a daily report, you can pretty much go with, Kristen:
Got up.
Admired the view out the window.
Stared at computer.
Found some excuse to move about -- NBT yoga, walk, chores....
Off and on during the day, did the usual things one does -- shower, dress, eat....
Went to bed.
Three or four times a week Tom and I have been walking up Perseverance -- great scenery and bonus of getting in shape. Every couple of weeks one of us goes to the store. Once every week or two, I'm the one to check the PO box.
On a recent Perseverance walk, we noticed a spot in Gold Creek that makes a whirlpool. On last night's walk we tossed in a stick on our way up. It was still spinning when we came back down.
Animal sightings have largely been replaced with multiple-shades-of-green vistas. Once this week, we startled a porcupine into scurrying off the trail. Every few days more snow has melted and we can get closer to the end. Got the furthest so far last night -- past the bench in front of the glory hole. There's a deeper, shaded gully not far from the end, which is still too snow packed for my tennis shoes. Expect it will be clear within a couple of weeks. From near the end, we watched a party of five skiers walking their way down the mountain after their run. It looked like they might be in trouble, but eventually they all made it through the steepest part and picked up speed as they headed for the trail.
The state relaxed hunker-down guidelines and, as expected, covid cases are increasing again. Several new ones are related to out-of-state arrivals related to the fishing season. So far, Juneau continues to be less impacted than other areas.
