Saturday started with Lydia's final frisbee playoff game, the third place game, at nine. It was once again in Magnuson Park, near the NOAA facility, about 30 minutes from home.

It was much less windy, and also cooler than last week. Hamilton took an early 3-0 lead. The other team was dropping a lot of passes. They figured things out, though, and cut the lead to 3-2, and eventually 5-5 at halftime. They also scored the first goal of the second half. But then Hamilton scored the last six goals of the game to win 11-6. Lydia caught the game winner after running ahead of a long throw that her teammate pulled in.

We turned around and drove back home immediately so Nicole and I could head to Climate Pledge for the Storm game at noon. Rachel had gone ahead of us to be sure to get a t-shirt. But when we arrived a little before 11:30 there were still many left. I got one for Lydia and Nicole for herself.

The game was competitive for a while, but as the Storm moved through their substitutions, they fell behind the defending champion Aces. They made one mini run in the third quarter to cut into a large lead, but it was quickly erased. The final margin was about forty points, the biggest opening day blowout in league history. Considering the Aces basically have last year's team intact, and the Storm had only played together for two preseason games, this was not surprising. I don't know how Rachel felt about it, but Nicole and I were not discouraged. I think it's going to be a fun year even if they are rebuilding.

After the game Nicole and Rachel stopped at Rabbit Rabbit for bubble tea while I went to the used bookstore on Mercer Street to look for Hunger Games books for Lydia. They had #2 and #3 in hardcover, so I got both. Then we got on the #2 bus and sat down across from Rachel's physical therapist, who had just attended her first ever Storm game. We talked about the game a little before they got to their stop.

We didn't stay long at home. Lydia wanted to watch the other Hamilton team's championship frisbee game, back at Magnuson. And Rachel wanted to go along to play lacrosse catch with me. Nicole and Eric decided to come along, too. Eric ended up doing most of the passing with Rachel. Nicole watched the game with Lydia, but we were on the far side of the field with an 8th grade matchup between the same two schools in between.

Finally, we had game night with Matt Hansen back at home. We played two rounds of Settlers of Catan while the boys played Telestrations and other, more active games. It's been a long time since we did this in person, though we did virtual game nights once or twice.

Nicole saw this growing in a crack in our wall. Lens thinks it's Dalmatian bellflower, which seems plausible.
