Friday we had new carpet installed on our stairs. They'd been bare wood since the floor refinishing. I think they turned out really nice.
After several months, the change felt like walking on a cloud to me, with every step cushioned and noticeably higher than before, but I imagine that will wear off soon.
It was a rainy day. I put on my rain pants to walk to the office to meet our neighbors for a tour. Lydia's frisbee practice was cancelled due to the state of the field.
Rachel had her last lacrosse game of the season, though. That was on artificial turf, in Montlake. The other team, from Mercer Island, was much stronger, and was already ahead 6-1 by the time we arrived, after picking up Eric from a birthday party. They went on to win something like 17-5. Rachel played defense the whole game again. She had some good individual plays, but the team defense was not very effective most of the time.
It was senior night, so we stayed after for a few minutes for celebration of the two twelfth graders and team photos, then we picked up sushi for dinner on the way home.

Stairs look great. Sounds like a marvelous sensation! Almost as good as walking on sunshine.
