Wait

Thursday, Nicole and I went out to dinner with our old friends the Sanfords, right after I got home from work. When we returned, I helped Rachel with her physics and it got too late to post.

Friday, Nicole went out with Karen and Rachel was at the high school musical, so I went to Zeek's with the other kids for pizza. It was really busy when we arrived, but we found a seat outside. They brought us menus after a short time, took our order after a while longer, but then we sat for a long time without our drinks arriving. A family near us seemed to get upset about their order not having been put in, and eventually left. The manager asked several tables if we wanted their pizzas. We declined.

Another waiter came around and asked if anyone had brought us menus. We said, yes, we ordered, but I repeated our drink order and he brought them. Colin was reading his book, which we were able to check out on my phone from the library. Eric was flipping an embroidered handkerchief, heads or tails. Multiple wait staff came and told us they were sorry it was taking so long, and they'd give us our food for half price. They brought us some bread sticks, which we had ordered, but said they were on the house.

Finally, they came back and said they didn't think our original order had been put in, and asked if we still wanted it. I repeated the food order, minus the breadsticks. It was probably at that point that we wondered whether the pizzas they had brought around earlier had actually been our order, not that other family's.

In the end, our food arrived, and they brought us a bill for $0. I had meant to leave a tip, but with nothing to pay I settled for all the cash in my wallet, which was less than I intended.

By then, the restaurant was mostly empty and it was past time for dessert. The boys wanted frozen yogurt instead of ice cream, so we went both places. We walked past the library and saw both the Fremontodendron and Chilean fire trees in bloom.

At home, today's featured plant is maidenhair fern.

We had a long wait once at Bullwinkles. They had forgotten to put in our order. And that was when you ordered at the counter and all they had to do was turn around! Good thing they had free popcorn!

Sounds like everyone handled that very frustrating situation extremely well.

I had a similar experience in Nashville. They ended up gifting us appetizers while we waited, then gifting dessert, and giving us the meal for free. We only had to pay for the two drinks.
