Lascours Lockdown, Day 262

Tuesday, December 1st. L2D32.

The girls got ready incredibly fast this morning as they were excited to open the first box on their Advent calendars. At their grandmother's house, they have Harry Potter ones. Much more exciting than the organic chocolate ones I got them. I enjoyed my first cup of Advent tea.
This morning, the girls took their Christmas charity gift boxes to school. The school had asked each child to wrap the bottom of a shoebox and prepare a gift box for a homeless adult with four different items inside including something warm to wear, a sweet treat, a toiletry product and an entertainment item. Marie-Elisabeth helped them get them ready. They'll decorate the box tops at school.
The cleaning lady, Arlette, said the Christmas decorations were quite beautiful this year. I must confess to finding them nicer than usual as well although it's all of the same stuff . . . I think it has something to do with the more central location of the tree which makes it more visible. I also tied stockings to the railing this year with silver bows which is something I've not done before.
I didn't have grocery pickup today, but I ventured out in the morning for a trip to the ATM, the post office and the liquor store. I also wanted to stop at the organic market for cheeses, but a slow down for tree trimming work impeded my progress and I had to forego that last stop as I needed to get home with Arlette's money before she left.
In between errands and yoga, I finally finished all my literature and translation grading today. Phew.
After school, we looked at Lydia's PAELP website and quite enjoyed all the baby animal photos. Then Maeva had some fun with a choose your own adventure we found posted online. It was time to stop for dinner before she managed to "solve" it. To her chagrin, she kept "dying" at various stages of the plot, though she must have started over about two dozen times.
When the girls went next door for dinner, I had a video call with Mary in Strasbourg. She told me about her older brother offering to make her jam sandwiches when she was little and we had a good laugh. What's a jam sandwich? Jam two pieces of bread together and eat it.
