Silver Spring Goings On

We had a couple of sunny, unseasonably warm days over the weekend (64F yesterday), but change is on the way. It's raining today - light but steady - and forecast to freeze tonight and have lows in the 20s for the rest of the week, perhaps as low as 21F. It will be a test for the plants that we have at the farm under low tunnels. 

Pam is winding down her work for NOAA Fisheries in Alaska, as she's retiring at the end of December. That will be a big change for her (and me too, I expect). In the new year, we'll be busy getting the house ready to sell - probably putting it on the market in the spring, which seems to be the best time to sell a house.

We're continuing to look at properties in the area roughly from Longview, Washington to Hood River, Oregon. So far we haven't found the right combination of house, land, and location. We've decided not to compromise at this point, even though it would be nice to be settled on a new home to go to. If something that checks all the boxes does pop up, we're ready, but we're expecting it's more likely that we'll move out and rent for a while so we can do an in-person home search.  

In the meantime, Pam would like to be able to move her Mom in Rock Island, IL, from the Rehab center she has been in for two years since her fall, back to the family home with full time in-home care, but she doesn't think that will be possible until the pandemic is tamped down and people are being vaccinated. 

So, depending on how the puzzle pieces fit together, it's possible we might sell here, ship the household goods to Washington for storage, go to Illinois for a while to get Marjorie back in the family home, and then go on to Washington. Or we might not. C'est la vie!
