Monday morning it looked like it had rained overnight, but that was not the last of it. Nicole called the bank about a mortgage rate modification this morning, so I was running some numbers for that instead of checking pandemic statistics. But I did see that Seattle Public Schools had a good week—fewer cases than either of the last two weeks. No new cases at our kids' schools.
Rachel was scheduled to have her first piano lesson after her teacher's trip to Spain today, but we couldn't remember if it was meant to be in person, so Nicole was also figuring that out. In the end, she rescheduled for next week. The plan is for Rachel to walk to her lesson after school, so that Nicole can do pick up afterward.
Nicole also did some shopping this morning for finishing touches for the garage, including pegboard. When she got home, we went to get lunch together. The sushi place had no outdoor seating, so we ended up at Eden Hill Provisions, which has fancy burgers. I ordered a falafel veggie burger, then went next door to get passport photos—my passport expired this summer. I came back just in time to eat. The burger had pickled turnips, labneh, and aioli. I thought it was pretty good.
After work, I had pizza making to do. I didn't have any special ingredients, and made two pizzas with potatoes and mushrooms, but they were still pretty distinct, and I have no regrets. We're planning to have Zwiebelkuchen on Friday to ring in October.
Next, Rachel and I walked to the library while the rest of the family tried out a bingo set for Eric's birthday party. I had a book I forgot I had on hold come available today, and Rachel always has books on hold, I guess. It was just getting dark as we set out, but the sky was plainly unthreatening. We had a pleasant walk. On the way back, the sky to the west held a remarkable cloud.
Nicole left for a massage shortly after we returned, and I started in on bedtime, but Eric still hadn't settled down when she returned. I let her take over and went to read the first few pages of The Witness for the Dead, the much anticipated sequel (of sorts) to The Goblin Emperor.

What kind of turnips did your burger choose? And what is labneh? In spite of these unknowns, I still think it sounds tasty!
Maybe sweet turnips, if that's a kind. They were pretty mild, despite or because of the pickling. Labneh is just extra thick strained yogurt, according to the internet.
