Congraduations

There was so much to do Tuesday morning. Usually I just cut bread and cheese for Lydia, but today everyone wanted a sandwich. Nicole was getting ready to chaperone Colin's field trip to Golden Gardens. I biked Eric and Colin to school and then took a shower so I could drive Rachel to school since Flavia wasn't feeling well and Nicole had to go to a chaperone meeting at Coe. It wasn't until I got out of the shower that I realized I hadn't had breakfast. I took too long eating my cereal and then had to clean out the car, so we were a few minutes late getting Rachel to school. She arrived before the second bell, but apparently didn't get to class on time. Oh well.

I had to wait for the drawbridge on the way back to drop the car off at Coe. I texted Nicole after parking to give her the location, then saw she was standing outside already. The chaperones had to drive separately, while the kids got to take the school bus. I walked straight from there to work.

Nicole reported a fun day at the beach, including geoducks, a gull with a starfish, and tide pools. I think it was an extreme low tide today. I should have asked Colin about it, but I guess I was distracted.

Nicole and Rachel picked me up from work. Rachel ran over to the window, waving. We went home and soon Nicole picked up the other kids from Spanish and it was time to go to Hamilton. Lydia stayed at home because she needed to be at Coe at six for her graduation ceremony, but the rest of us headed to Rachel's graduation parade, starting at 5:30. We left around six to be back at Coe for the 6:30 start.

The ceremony at Coe lasted until right around eight. Then there was the outdoor reception. By the time we had retrieved dinner from Malena's and some groceries from Ken's and then eaten back at home, it was 9:30. I still read some to the kids, but Colin fell asleep before the chapter was over.

We did some thinking on the drive home, and we are lucky to have no students finishing schools next year, but then every year after that until 2027 will have at least one, culminating in another year like this when Colin finishes middle school and Eric elementary. Something to look forward to.
