Bedtime for the chickens is around 9 pm, just a little after official sunset. They make their way into the coop and settle down before it gets too dark for them to see.
Tonight the Wyandotte rooster was the last one out. I walked down to the end of the lane, and by the time I got back up he was inside.
I went over to shut their door, looking in for a head count just to be sure, and found all 8 on the same roost bar (first time that's happened), lined up in pairs - the Wyandottes, then the Andalusians, then the Orpingtons, then the Brahmas. Just an accident? I think they have an affinity for the other of their pair, and it showed up tonight.
