Brotherly Love

Today, we went to Janice and Randy's after church to exchange Christmas gifts. Janice made us a calendar with pictures of the boys. Lucas was over by Jenn after she'd opened it. Jenn pointed to Andrew and Lucas said "brother."

We left after a couple hours, with both boys being tired and cranky. After naps and lunch, we went upstairs. Andrew was playing with some toys, and asked me to come play with him.

I said "That's why we had a brother for you." Andrew was not convinced. But, right on cue, Lucas sauntered over to him.

Andrew: "No, Lucas. You can't play."

Me: "Andrew, he just wants to play with you."

Andrew: "Lucas, stop it. Stay back Lucas. Mommy, come get Lucas."

So much for brotherly love!

Also on the "brotherly love" topic, Lucas went up to Andrew in the kitchen this evening and gave him a big hug. Lucas is pretty good at giving hugs. Andrew, apparently not thrilled with the hug, pipes up: "He's doing it too tight!"

Lucas just can't win!

The emotional tone sounds not unlike Hootsie & Ollie Duke...albeit way more articulate.

I'm sure the cats are articulate in their own way.
