"Death March"

"Takes 169 per leg and about 15 minutes."

What is: the "Death March."

Regularly, I check the Ground Zero Cross Fit page to see what they post as the workout of the day (WOD). One day last week, the WOD was the "Death March," which is lunges for 400 m.

So, yesterday, I decided to try the "Death March." Unfortunately, yesterday, I did less than half of the required distance.

Today, for whatever reason, I decided to give it another try. And, this time, I stuck with it. After 169 lunges (per leg), I hit 0.25 miles on my Garmin watch. Done! It took almost 15 minutes. I would have been faster if I didn't have the stroller and the dog with me. But, I wouldn't have been that much faster. I would have been faster if I was in better shape and didn't have to stop and take so many breaks. By the end, I was taking a short break every 10 total lunges.

I encourage you to try the "Death March" for yourself. I'd love to hear about someone beating my time.

P.S. Performing the lunges the past couple days took me back to memories of walking in Oakland with Tanya, mom, and Meredith when we were out there after Roy and Nicole's wedding. I was in much better shape back then. I don't know that I did a quarter of a mile of lunges on any of those jaunts, although I do remember doing a fairly considerable number at times.

I gather one moves along as if walking except that each time you are doing a lunge?

Exactly. Left - right - left - right ...

Now that you've got it down, give it a try!

My legs are not as sore today as I imagined they would be.
