Thursday, August 9th. Direction Poitiers (about a 2-hour drive northwest of Limoges) and the Futuroscope theme park! Lots of various screen attractions in 3D, 4D, Imax and even a planetarium. The 4D one, Arthur and the Minimoys, was elected best ride of the year in 2012, apparently. It was quite spectacular. You're seated on a platform that moves and "speed" through the adventure wearing 3D glasses. It was a favorite of many in our crew. Sylvains claims the sensations were better than the Sebastien Loab racing ride that he had really been looking forward to. It made me a bit sick to my stomach. My and Maëva's favorite was L'Extraordinaire Voyage. The seats lift of the floor and tilt forward so you feel like you're right in front of the huge screen. Then as you "fly" through the air on a trip around the world, the seats tilt to follow the camera movements. Quite impressive on steep drop offs! Maëva loved it, too, and wanted it to keep going. Laureva says that these two rides were also her favorites, she can't choose between them. Other attractions included Raving Rabbids, Cosmic Collisions, Sebastien Loeb Racing, Ice Age, Son of Big Foot and a film about French astronaut Thomas Pesquet. Quite a full day (some of the lines were nearly an hour long!) that was enjoyed by all. We're so glad Sylvain realized this would be doable and set it up. We stayed from 10am to 6pm, then headed back to Limoges for barbecued sausages at the Lucas-Reys'.

The 3-D glasses make more women sick than men, I've read...sounds like a fun day!
I think it was the motion, mostly. I didn't have a problem with the three other 3-D attractions we did. Could be a combination, I suppose.
