Gallivanting with Grandma: Day 6

Wednesday, August 29th. Leftover pancakes! Morning walk up path behind house. Girls collected sticks, pinecones, pine needles and a small feather to make "soup." Scored more ripe tomatoes and one strawberry in garden on way back. Picked yellow figs with Mom. Laureva tried them and liked them. Ate at least 3 halves, including the one rejected by Maëva (I like it but don't want to eat it.). After lunch, off to Montréal to visit château. Oops. We arrived 1:15 pm, but not open until 2. Strolled around village and back of château while waiting. Found a playground. Score! Visited château dating to 12th century: huge spiral staircase, kitchen with built in stone basins for laundry, keep, interphone built in stone, bread oven opening off the chapel, medieval torture devices  ... Home for snack and change into swimsuits. Sylvain stayed home while girls went to the creek to swim. Hardly any other people. Swimming, jumping, building rock towers  ... Back home for last evening in Ardèche. Still no oven, so I managed to prepare chèvre chaud on the stove top. Go me! Discussion turned to farts. Taught girls about He who smelt it delt it. Much laughter ensued. Fun times.
