After Friday night's rain, Saturday was nice and dry. I did yard work in the morning, cleaning up the Alstroemeria and removing the weeper hose from the back. The yerba buena we planted in February has finally rerooted after spreading widely. I had carefully fed it under the hose a few times, but then the mulch came, and I stopped trying. I discovered recently that it had roots on both sides of the hose. I carefully fed the hose under to get it out.
Late morning, I recruited two boys and Nicole to go on a walk with me by promising doughnuts. On the way, we found ripe strawberry tree fruits. Eric ate all of his. Colin only took one bite then gave it to me. I think they taste a little like salmonberry, which means sort of nondescript fruit. Eric said they taste like vitamins, which maybe means the same thing.
After lunch and some reading time, Nicole and Rachel finally agreed on a board game. We played two rounds of Puerto Rico by the end of the day. Rachel won the first, but I got the second one. We broke for dinner, and I tried to get Eric to ride the bike, after. He's pretty wary of it, so it's slow going.
Eric helped me put away the game because he wanted to play Mario. We collected all the star coins from three more levels in world eight. The last we had to do twice because we forgot to save.
Eric also did two more reading lessons today. He asked for another at bed time. I'm thinking of getting him some books for birthday. We have plenty already, of course, but not many are his. Nate the Great is one of the suggestions in his lesson book.
