We've been painting, too!

We did Julie's accent wall, which got a second coat and the trim painted last night. That project should be done, aside from pulling the painter's tape. 

I also started painting the garage. I got two gallons, thinking "it's just 3 walls and a ceiling." Whoops!

I knew that the walls were long, but I underestimated a few other things. First, the walls are tall. These aren't 8-ft walls. I'm not sure exactly how tall they are ... maybe about 11 ft? Maybe I'll measure. 

Second, I didn't account for all of the partial walls up high that are associated with the structural beam system supporting Andrew's bedroom, which is partially over the garage. Those beams are a couple/few feet tall, and they have two sides. So, every two feet of beam is like a foot of normal wall. 

There's a lot of square footage is a garage, so the ceiling has a lot of surface area. I think the garage is in the neighborhood of 800 sf. If you have a 10x10 room with 8-ft walls, the total sf of all four walls and the ceiling is 100+4×80 = 420 sf.

So, last night, we picked up a 5-gallon bucket of paint, as I'd already used the two gallons I'd purchased previously. I'm hopeful that the 5-gallon quantity will get the job done, although I think it will be close. 

The garage color is Sherwin-Williams Icicle, which is on the same card as Stone Eagle (the interior wall color), but one shade lighter. Here are a couple pictures from last night. I think it will dry a little lighter. Yes, I know, the job isn't complete!
