Lascours Lockdown, Day 474

Thursday, July 1st. 

This morning, after doing the exercise bike and baking a loaf of bread, I checked my work email, but as there was nothing urgent to do, I spent the day dealing with paperwork, making another batch of medical appointments and starting a batch of vanilla cupcakes for Maëva to take to school tomorrow, with a break mid afternoon for yoga, of course. 

Jenny mentioned that she'll be participating in a panel on art and science at the Avignon festival next week, but she declined to participate in either of the two lunches scheduled for speakers. The organizers have not been willing to accept her explanation that she doesn't want to attend a lunch in the context of the Delta variant gaining a stronger foothold across the country and have kept hounding her, so she has decided to stop responding to their messages.

After school, the baking project continued as Maëva had requested vanilla cupcakes, lemon cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies. The girls played some Animal Crossing to test out the game on the new tv screen. They said they could see much better. I took a break from baking about 7 to chat with Serra in KC for about an hour. She's still working from home. We finally figured out we hadn't spoken since towards the end of 2020.

Maeva's bottom left incisor fell out as she was brushing her teeth before bed. It had been loose for awhile. She put it in her petite souris box on her nightstand.

I finished baking the cookies while Sylvain was reading to the girls. Then I frosted and decorated half of the cupcakes while watching an episode of Mind Hunter with Sylvain. Forty cupcakes are now packed up and ready to go. The cookies need to sit out overnight before I can pack them in a container, otherwise they'll end up all stuck together. That may seem like a lot, but there are 31 kids in her class, so that's really only one cupcake and two cookies per person.
