Lascours Lockdown, Day 643

Friday, December 17th.

Twinkle found a mouse friend overnight.

Fred and I delivered Christmas chocolates from the PTA to the cafeteria ladies, then went for a short thirty-minute walk as she had many things on her plate this morning. After, I went to Auchan to buy gold hoop earrings for Gabrielle. Apparently, they are something she's been asking for. Before heading home, I made a second stop at Cultura for canvasses and mini chalkboards for the girls' painting project with Mom tomorrow afternoon. 

The news reported that the HAS had authorized vaccination for kids ages 5-11 on a voluntary basis, so I made vaccine appointments for girls when I got home. They are for Tuesday late morning at a center that is a forty-five-minute drive away. There doesn't appear to be anywhere nearer doing pediatric doses for now. I'll keep looking over the weekend and if I can find something more convenient, I may change. That taken care of, I finally got back to my grading. I have now finished the fourteen that were handwritten on exam papers on site. However, I still have fifty to sixty more that were submitted electronically. I'm going to need to work every day over break in order to make progress.

At lunchtime, Maëva reported that they had only played games all morning. In the afternoon, the whole school gave a concert (to themselves), listened to a few carols sung by a duo of professional singers who came for the occasion, and had a Christmas snack on the playground. The girls wore their Christmas sweaters knit by Marie-Elisabeth and their new Christmas headbands to be festive for the occasion. I took a cute photo of them in front of the tree that I'll try to upload soon.

The Ski Club was hosting its annual Père Noël party on the Cours after school. However, I decided not to take the girls. We came home instead and they played in their room (instead of tidying up as I asked) while I did some more grading before preparing mushroom and sweet potato lasagna and fruit salad for dinner.

Before bed, Laureva wanted to sing "No Place Like Home for the Holidays" again. Then when we went downstairs, we sang it again accompanied by Maeva on the piano. She has the music memorized already.

The government had another pandemic crisis meeting today and made a few announcements this evening. The Covid health pass will become a vaccine pass early next year. Travel to and from the UK is being severely restricted. Other than that, there are no more restrictions, just calls for everyone to be reasonable and not congregate too much over the holidays.
