Lascours Lockdown, Day 680

Sunday, January 23rd.

The first part of my morning was spent alternately helping the girls with their homework and preparing their picnic lunch. I made them a pizza and spread chocolate on crepes, etc. At 9:45, we left to drive the hikers to La Font de Mai in Aubagne to meet the Zuninos. Sylvain didn't want to go up and down both ways as the Aubagne side is less exciting, so he and the girls came back down on the Lascours side and just walked home, arriving about 3:30. Meanwhile, I came home to do class prep and grading. I also baked a loaf of bread.

When Laureva walked in the door after their hike, she immediately realized she'd lost her eye glasses. Sylvain was complaining of fatigue after just carrying Laureva up our drive. However, he turned right around and went back out to retrace their steps. He ended up going all the way back up to the cross at the top. Along the way, he asked everyone he met whether they'd found a pair of glasses. No one had. He also spent thirty minutes going over the picnic area site where he suspected they might have been lost when the girls were running around. Nothing. He was gone over two hours and didn't return until nearly 6 - exhausted and cold. I hadn't realized Laureva had gone hiking with her eye glasses. I had told her she needed to wear her sunglasses and I'd seen her with those as we were leaving. Apparently, she took both, but didn't take a case. When Sylvain realized, he told her to hang her eye glasses over the neck of her t-shirt. He was worried about putting them in the backpack without a case to protect them.

While Sylvain was out on his doomed mission, and once we'd gotten through the lost-glasses-related tears, I helped the girls finish their homework. Maeva had history lessons to learn about the Napoleons and the First, Second and Third Republics. She also had to prepare the mystery person of the week exercise for her class. She choose to do it on Gustave Eiffel. Laureva had spelling and grammar lessons to review. Afterwards, Laureva played her piano pieces for the camera so we could share them with you (see previous post). "La Cloche" is the one she was supposed to perform yesterday evening. Soon, it was time for the Sunday evening routine of bath and hangout.
