Lascours Lockdown, Day 687

Sunday, January 30th.

Homework, exercise bike, tidying, laundry and some Switch occupied us this morning.

Over lunch, our conversation revolved around the solar system. Laureva has a test on that subject coming up this week. The girls remembered a video they watched with Sylvain recently which shows the relative sizes of celestial bodies from smallest to largest, before expanding further to show the size of the Milky Way and then it's relationship to Andromeda. Once the meal was wrapped up, they watched it again. We also discussed the pronunciation of Betelgeuse, which actually is pronounced like Beetlejuice in English.

This afternoon, Sylvain and Maëva went running. Laureva had initially promised to go, but begged off after reading time. Instead, she went next door for a snack at her grandmother's. I continued grading . . .

A few minutes before 6, I headed out to Frederique and Vincent's theater showcase in Marseille. Unfortunately, I neglected to account for Sunday evening traffic and so did not arrive in front of the theater until 6:43, thirteen minutes late. The doors were already closed. I could see the deadbolt was closed (is that even safe?). I rang the bell and waited a few minutes, but noone came. It wasn't a public performance, so I guess they just didn't leave anyone on the front desk to allow for latecomeers. I turned around and went home. On the upside, I got to chat with Mom for awhile, and read stories to the girls before bed. Plus, Fred and Vincent won the prix d'interpretation even without my vote, so all's well.

Maeva's teacher sent an email this evening that another classmate tested positive Friday evening: Baptiste. She said we are not required to test our kids as it was still within the week of the second testing protocol. I confess to incomprehension, however, as Friday was D+8 of the last sequence. Since when do weeks have eight days? 

Sylvain and the girls finished the puzzle from Evan and Julie this evening. I only did three or four pieces on this one, so it was really all them:
