Tuesday morning, Nicole went to run at the Queen Anne Bowl, and I went to the dentist. The kids stayed home. My cleaning went well, and Nicole managed twenty minutes of continuous running.
When I returned home, I set out to fill up the water bag for the tree in front, and then saw the fig tree and remembered to trim the lilac to stop interfering with it. Yesterday I pinched off one of the new shoots in an attempt to encourage more branching. I patiently await the results.
While watering the tree, I noticed that some of the buds on the new globemallow are showing color. I expect they'll be blooming soon, a bright red orange. Next I looked at the seedlings on the front slope. There appear to be six of them, and I think they are bitter cherry, Prunus emarginata.
After lunch, Nicole took Rachel to Fred Meyer to shop for succulents. They came back with a whole bunch. Rachel is partial to the Echeveria genus, but there were others as well. They worked on planting them. A couple are in Rachel's bedroom window, now, and the rest are outside.
After work, Nicole and I drove to Red Mill to pick up dinner, and after dinner we played two games of Splendor with Nicole's parents from the comfort of the back yard. Board Game Arena just added Splendor a couple weeks ago. It's one we've played a lot in person.
We finished the night with the penultimate episode of Merlin season two, and a chapter of Treasure Island. Colin has another loose tooth, and we spent some time trying to get it away from him, but for now he's holding onto it.
