Lascours Lockdown, Day 725

Thursday, March 10th.

I received another student email about Covid today. This student's father has it, so she's a contact case (so she must be unvaccinated) and must stay home. As a result, she will miss two weeks of my class.

Luckily my phone was near me when it beeped a few minutes before 10. I realized I had completely forgotten my 10am appointment for a haircut. I raced out and arrived right on time. 

In addition to some class prep, I spent some time today answering emails and filling out charts about my teaching schedule for next year. It looks like I'll be able to slightly lighten my load, which will be nice. I'll have 46 hours less (that was this year's overtime) and only six preps second semester, rather than seven. I will have to develop a new class, but I have nearly a year to do it in, so it should be okay.

I spent the afternoon in Aix with Mary Boyington who is down from Strasbourg for a work conference. It was nice to hang out and chat with a good friend for a few hours. We also ended up purchasing matching dresses when a store display we were passing caught both our eyes.

Maëva's teacher sent an email this evening to say another student in the class tested positive for Covid today. According to the new protocol, Maëva will only need to do one home test on D+2, so on Saturday.

R is back up to 0.86 in PACA as of March 5th. The incidence rate in the BDR has started going back up again as well. It was down in the 500s, but is now at 611.5 as of March 7th. 

We had a PTA meeting this evening. The first in two years, excluding the general assemblies each fall to elect new officers. Of the dozen or so people in attendance, only one other woman was wearing a mask. Most people have already anticipated the lifting of the mandate on Monday.
