Sequestered in Seattle, Day 155

Thursday morning, Rachel had an orthodontist appointment. I dropped her off by bicycle, then had some time to kill. I rode past the library and picked up some doughnuts at Top Pot, then past La Casita Feliz and down the hill to look at the volcano. Only air quality obstructed the view, but it was enough. I could barely make out the outline of Rainier. From there I stopped at Parsons Gardens to smell the peanut butter tree and look at everything else. I still made it back several minutes before Rachel was ready.

At lunchtime, we drove to pick up lunch from Giddy Up, then to the library in Ballard, which is accepting returns. Five months later, they have their books back. For now, I think they're just serving books that were reserved before they closed, but they'll eventually accept new holds, too.

In the garden yesterday, I found that some worms had moved upstairs to the new bin. I think most are still down below, though. After work I did some cleaning. The spout that drains liquid from the bottom of the bin was clogged, because its filter seems to float. I emptied it all out and put a rock on the filter, hoping it will stay in place. I found another bean plant this evening too, that I had forgotten we planted because it didn't seem to have come up. It grabbed onto the twine I left all by itself.

Nicole had her first PTA board meeting this evening, so after dinner the rest of us tried to stay quiet. I read for a while, then went downstairs to play Mario, so that Eric would go back down, too. Nicole was happy with how the meeting went, so we had chocolate and ice cream afterwards.
