Lascours Lockdown, Day 171

Tuesday, September 1st. First Day of School!

The girls were up by twenty to seven this morning and ready to go in plenty of time. We were not late to school! Marie-Elisabeth walked with us. Laureva went in at 8:15 with the first graders. Maëva had to wait until 8:30 when the fourth graders were called. They were both happy with their first day although Laureva wasn't too happy about the cucumber salad at the cafeteria and complained that her teacher hadn't given them enough work. They only did one page of math today. Maëva is excited about the time machine theme her teacher has chosen for the year.
Aside from a teeny bit of work I managed to get done this morning for my distance learning translation class while waiting for our Picard order to be delivered, and yoga this afternoon, the rest of the day was spent on various car-related tasks. The good news is that I've ordered a car! An electric Renault Zoé in bleu foudre. Thanks to our contact in Aubagne (friend of a friend), we got a great deal. More features and more mileage for significantly less. Plus, his friend at Peugeot managed to get the their bill down for us as well. We paid only a quarter of what we were originally quoted  for the engine diagnostics. We cleaned our things out of the Peugeot this afternoon. The Renault garage will be taking over now. I should get my new Zoé next week. Hopefully, Tuesday. If not, Friday or Saturday. This will be my first new car ever. I'm quite excited!
The girls each had a classmate missing from school today: Magda and Rosalie, daughters of my friend Claire who's been doing yoga with us. Magda had a fever this morning, so both girls were kept out of school. The doctor said her symptoms were typical of Covid-19. Magda and Claire were both tested this morning and are waiting for results. Magda is the only one in the family with symptoms. Luckily, these girls hadn't been to school yet! However, there will certainly be others . . .
In other news, I started my annual grape cleanse this morning. So far, so good. Sylvain kindly decided not to eat M&Ms in front of me this evening. However, I don't really mind that sort of thing. There will still be M&Ms around when I'm done with the week of grapes.
