Wednesday, September 2nd. Grape Day 2!

The girls spent the night next door and didn't come back until late morning. After spinning, I set to work preparing for classes. I worked on my detective fiction class this morning. Then spent the afternoon working on the first session of Introduction to Literary Analysis, transforming a colleague's notes into something I can work with and understand that will still coincide with the Power Point she prepared. It took me about four hours to prepare for the hour and a half class. I guess that sounds about right. I keep forgetting how productive it's possible to be when one has quiet, uninterrupted work time.
The latest news from the university is that they'll probably be putting in place a hybrid system with classes under a certain size taking place on site and others being held remotely. Five days before the scheduled start to the semester, they have not yet determined the cutoff number, however.
Sylvain and Marie-Elisabeth took the girls to Géménos this afternoon for their tennis try-outs. They seem to have enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to going back again next Wednesday afternoon. Sylvain left early to go eat aïoli at his friend Michel's restaurant in Géménos with a group from Lascours. Today should have been the traditional aïoli and pétanque day of the fête so this is an alternate solution for some.

The seven-day moving average here has been setting records since Friday. Serious cases are visibly going up, too. People seem to be getting used to the idea of coronavirus, however, and don't seem to be taking it as seriously as this spring.
