Friday, September 4th. Grape day 4! Happy Birthday to Loriane!
Fred and I met at the school this morning and went for a forty-five minute walk. On the way, I got a call from Renault telling me that I could come get my car tomorrow morning at 10. Yippee!! After the walk, I headed down to the bank to transfer the rest of my down payment for the car and see about insurance. As I don't have the license number yet (they're supposed to email it to me sometime today), we couldn't do much. However, I did learn that it will be a simple process of modifying my existing contract, replacing the Peugeot for the Zoé. I have an appointment to do that tomorrow at 9am. Back home, I joined a Zoom meeting with the translation team at the university. We're trying to figure out how to best adapt our teaching and testing to hybrid and remote learning scenarios. Mid meeting, the dean emailed that the semester has been pushed back a week until September 14th (pandemic situation permitting), that univeristy facilities will be used only to 50% capacity and that on-site classes will be livestreamed via Zoom (which most of us don't think will work very well given that it's hard to connect to the internet from many of the classrooms).
After yoga this afternoon, it was soon time to go pick up the girls from school. I had just enough time to get them home and find them a snack before heading back out to the parents meeting with Laureva's teacher. I had to sit in Laureva's desk which is right in the middle of the front row. Laureva's teacher sent me this photo taken the first day:
There have been more school closures due to Covid-19. This morning, the news was reporting 22, by this evening the number was up in the 60s or 70s. In other schools where they manage to keep classes separate, there have been single class closures: 100+ and counting . . .
