Yellow Wooly Bear

 

This is the caterpillar of the Virginia Tiger Moth - a white moth with spots - not sure how you get Tiger out of that. These are, apparently, very common around the country. Probably got named Virginia because that's where Europeans first encountered them. 

The caterpillar has the fun name of Yellow Wooly Bear. This one was crawling around on a Tulsi (Holy Basil) plant in the front garden yesterday.
