A picture being worth a thousand words...

Here is a cryptic update on why I have been so blog-silent recently, the other part of the story being end-of-term, weekend trip to Tucson, and Maker Faire project coming up next weekend. More on all of the above stories soon...but first a pictorial on Hootsie's afternoon (and don't worry, he's going to be fine, although the next couple of weeks when he's under house arrest promise to be trying.)

Above pics are from the first "coming home" moments after a saga involving unexplained pain & suffering, a possible misdiagnosis from Vet A, a certain kitty almost literally "ripping himself a new a-hole" due to ferocious licking at a hurting spot, an emergency trip to Vet B, who due to the delicacy of the injured area referred us to an emergency surgeon, Vet C. Ay yi yi, basically.

Oh, poor kitty! What started this all off?

My mom had a cat that was VERY allergic to flea bites. He ended up with his backside looking like that.

Glad you were there to take him on his rounds with the Drs. Hope to see an update with the usual Handsome Happy Hoots up soon.

Yikes is right! On Wednesday last week, I think it was, I came home to find him sitting in the patio looking uncomfortable -- we were afraid he'd dislocated his hip again so took him in right away. Vet #1 thought it was an anal gland abscess, treated it & sent us home with some meds. He seemed fine, we went on a quick weekend trip and when we got back, sometime between Saturday and Sunday when we got back he started licking it furiously -- he would growl and lick the spot, and in the process ripped a new tear from the original wound. I didn't realize how much he could damage himself. Vet #2, who operated, said he saw what looked like tooth marks and that maybe the original wound was a cat bite from a fight. Last night was a semi-sleepless affair of monitoring him to make sure he didn't get around the collar to lick his wounds. Today he has been quieter & I hope that means he is not in as much pain. Little Mr. Frankenbutt, he is now.
