Lascours Lockdown, Day 128

Monday, July 20th. Indoor Mask Mandate Day 1.
The Indoor Mask Mandate goes into effect as of today, punishable by a 135 euro fine.
This morning, the girls went to the beach, Sylvain went a dermatology appointment and I dropped off recycling and picked up our grocery order. On my way home, the radio news was reporting that there are currently some 400-500 clusters in France. They said transmission here is mainly taking place in one of two ways: certain industrial work situations such as slaughterhouses and family gatherings.
I received a mailing this weekend from the CBJ Elections office that the October Regular Municipal Election will be conducted by mail. I'm not sure why I received this as when I submit my absentee ballot request each election cycle I uniquely request to participate in federal elections. However, I'm happy to be informed about this initiative. There's a "We are Covid conscious" logo on the front: a crab in the middle of a teal square. Is that a Juneau thing? An Alaska thing? Or a nation-wide thing?
Late morning, I got a call from Expedia. American Airlines has officially canceled our transatlantic flights, so we're able to request reimbursement, which I did. She said it can take up to ten weeks, but that's okay as we'll just keep the money aside for our future trip. I thought reimbursement was better than vouchers as who knows which airlines will be flying which routes a year from now. We're still not sure what's happening with the OKC to HNL and HNL to SFO flights. The agent on the phone said she wasn't able to access my itineraries due to problems with the system.
In other news, we're having a problem with tiny ants that have been coming out of the wall that used to be the back outer wall, but is now inside due to the girls' addition. The ants have been getting into the girls' rooms and into the bathroom. It's unclear whether they're living inside the wall or whether they're coming in from outside through the wall. The latter, I hope, as that would be easier to fix. However, my outside investigation did not turn up any trail leading in ...

Sylvain and the girls headed out to the pool at 5pm and I went to the pharmacy to pick up special second-skin bandages prescribed by the dermatologist for a gash Sylvain got on his foot during a ping pong game in Ardèche. I remember two other Covid-19 related things from the news during the drive. 1. Cases are going up again in the Grand Est region which includes Strasbourg. They were among the hard hit back in March and April. 2. A research team at a children's hospital in Paris has confirmed a link between this coronavirus and Kawasaki's disease. However, the doctor interviewed insisted that these cases remain rare and respond well to treatment. 

Before dinner, the girls picked lavender in preparation for birthday cake baking this weekend.
