Lascours Lockdown, Day 134

Sunday, July 26th. IMM D7.
I spent the morning making pizza and getting things ready for the party. I moved the Hawaii garland down to the veranda and frosted the girls' cakes which they then decorated. The girls played more Nintendo Switch.

Caroline, Vincent, Gabrielle and Louis were the first guests to arrive about 12:20. This was a surprise for Maëva. When she saw Caroline, her face lit up, she shouted out "Marraine!" and ran over and jumped on Caroline for a big hug that lasted quite awhile. Sylvain and I were both moved to see Maëva's immense joy. We made an exception to our "no bises" rule for Caroline and Vincent since we haven't seen them in a year. My first "bises" since March. Everyone else got elbow bumps as per the new usual. Little by little, we were joined by Alain & Jackye; Paul & Justine; Franck, Loriane & Izia; Célia & Remy; Vincent G.; Clément; and Estelle & Vincent. Luckily, some of the younger adults were able to help the girls out with some Switch tips.
People hung out, eating, chatting, swimming, playing Switch . . . I know there was also a game of HP Clue with Célia, Maëva, Gabrielle and Laureva that Maëva won. Gabrielle and Laureva also played Twister Moves for awhile. When it was time for birthday cake, the girls each cut and served their own cake: a Devil's food heart with chocolate frosting for Laureva, and a lemon almond round layer cake with lavender frosting for Maëva. It was nice to have little helpers for this task.
Our guests all left by 8pm. The four of us sat out on the patio for dinner and took turns asking the Nest Hub to play songs. Sylvain and I played our first ever musical purchases for the girls: a Stéphanie de Monaco song for him, Informer by Snow for me. Oh, the shame. We finished off the evening with ice cream all around. It was a delightful family moment. Then Sylvain read the girls a story and put them to bed while I worked on party cleanup.
