Tuesday, July 21st. IMM D2.
While the cleaning lady was here this morning, the girls and I went out for some errands and their annual dental checkups. We dropped off a bag of old clothes, then stopped by the post office and the hardware store. I didn't purchase a new mailbox because I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to be installed. Dr. Canella said that the girls are doing a good job with brushing. Maëva just needs to brush better inside her lower front teeth. There was some plaque build-up there that the dentist cleaned off. Now that Maëva has gotten some of her adult teeth in, she was treated to her first ever teeth cleaning! Dr. Canella showed Maëva all the tools and explained what they were for before she started in on her mouth. It went well. Maëva was wearing her flamingo dress from Grandma today so she fit in perfectly with Dr. Canella's office decorations. On the way home, we stopped at the organic market for a few groceries. Back home, as the cleaning lady wasn't quite finished, we retired to the girls' rooms. The girls continued sorting through their clothes and I rearranged some shelves to make space for books.
This afternoon, I baked a quiche, mixed up some sourdough, wrote a letter to Meredith (her letter postmarked June 6th just arrived today!) and began reading Alice Thompson's The Book Collector which is the core novel for the Introduction to Literary Analysis course I'll be teaching in the fall.
