Lascours Lockdown, Day 133

Saturday, July 25th. IMM D6.
Despite going to bed late and Gabrielle not typically being an early riser, the girls and Gabrielle still got up at 7am. They spent the morning jumping on the trampoline, role playing and finishing their movie. Then I played a round of HP Uno with them before it was time for Gabrielle to leave.
The rest of my day was spent getting things ready for the family party tomorrow. We're expecting 16 adults, 4 kids and a baby. I went to the butcher's for charcuterie. Being a Saturday morning, it was quite busy. However, everyone was wearing masks. I baked a Devil's Food cake and another lemon almond cake. I made pasta salad, potato salad and lentil salad.
When Gabrielle left, we gave the girls a joint birthday gift: a Nintendo Switch. This was Sylvain's idea and he seemed so into it, I didn't have the heart to put my foot down even though I did not think it a necessary family addition. However, it's not that often that he takes an interest in gifts for the girls, so now we have a fancy new gadget. For now, we just have one game, a Super Mario Odyssey adventure game, so we're all on a high learning curve trying to figure out this new kind of game.
At 4pm, they took a break from playing to go for a swim. Laureva got into her suit and put on sunscreen. Unfortunately, she got stung twice by a wasp as she was standing on the ladder getting acclimated to the water: on her left wrist and on the inside of one of the fingers of her left hand. Quite a racket ensued. In all fairness, I know that wasp stings hurt and the surprise of them is also frightening. Luckily, I still had some of the sting pads Nicole gave me last year after Laureva got stung by a wasp at the market.
Fun activity to close out the day: Julie's Virtual Tromble Bridal Shower! It was fun to hang out and chat with all the girls for a couple hours and get a sneak peek of Julie's wedding dress. And now I finally understand what they're talking about when they say "cat house" and "dog house!"
1,100+ new Covid-19 cases in France yesterday. I suppose the positive difference, if any, from the mask mandate won't be visible in terms of new case numbers until mid-August.
