My last class sessions of the semester were yesterday and we needed both French and American passport photos for Laureva, so the girls and I headed to Aix today and decided to make a day out of it. American passports require a different size and different background for photos than French passports and you can't get them just anywhere around here.
Once our daily pet-sitting duties were accomplished in Roquevaire, we set out for Aix. We arrived just in time to meet Sophie and Marie-Elisabeth, who were also in Aix for the day, for coffee at La Rotonde cafe. Then we went to get the passport photos done and stopped by Le Chat Pitre to pick out some books for a friend of Laureva's who's having a birthday party soon. We learned that they are going to make part of it into a little cafe, so soon it will be a cat bookstore and cat cafe all in one!
On the way to meet Sylvain for lunch at The Corner Bistro, we saw some flamingo swimsuits hanging at a market stall. They had both the girls' sizes, so I bought them each new bathing suits. They'll be perfect for Hawaii. Earlier, I had bought them some scrunchies with long fabric tails that make it look like you've got a scarf tied around your hair. After the swimsuits, Laureva told me to stop buying them things so they could use their own money to buy things. I agreed to comply with her request.
For lunch, we sat at an outdoor table in the sun. It was a lovely warm day with, finally, no cool breeze. Towards the end of our burger lunch, both girls complained about being too hot and having too much sun on them. I suggested they just change their mindset and enjoy the nice weather, but my strategy did not meet with much success. The girls were hot and stuffed and both declined dessert, to both Sylvain's and my surprise.
We left the restaurant and strolled around a bit. We wanted to show Sylvain an outfit we'd seen that we thought would look good on him - a cream button-up shirt with a toucan print and orange chinos. He tried it on and made the purchase, to the delight of the girls and a bit to my surprise. It'll be great for Hawaii, as well.
At 2:30, we parted ways. Sylvain headed back home and we went to see Fantastic Beasts 3 in English at Le Cezanne movie theater. It was a good show and enjoyed by all. It's fun to see the Fantastic Beasts storylines connecting to the Harry Potter ones.
The movie got out at 5. We went to Riederer for chocolate cake (Maeva), rochers chocolates (Laureva), green Flamingo tea (girls) and coffee (me). At ten to six, it was time to start heading back. The girls convinced me we had time to stop at the shoe store so I could try on a pair of dressier work sandals I'd seen earlier in the day. Success. We also hit up the fancy cheese shop and each picked out one kind, our final stop of the day.
We made it home at 7pm, right on time for the girls to head next door for Thursday dinner.

I bought a few things at Target that are not great for Hawaii but will keep my housemate from having to see me hanging around the house in the same two tops for the rest of however long we're sharing space.
Sounds like a nice change for both of you!
