Half day

Wednesday morning, I worked from home. Nicole also stayed home, after dropping off the girls at school. Late morning we had a (Zoom) meeting with the estate lawyer to go over the documents they've prepared for us. We made a few corrections and learned a lot about the details. We'll have to look over the revisions again before signing.

We ate a late lunch and then it was almost time for the kids to come home from school. We intercepted them on the way home and then Nicole dropped me off at the office before continuing to piano lessons. The office was far from full. I don't know whether that's because people are spooked by all the exposure notifications, or if they just prefer working from home and asked for an extension. Or maybe they're all on vacation.

It was raining in the afternoon and I thought I might actually need my rain pants on the walk home, but it had stopped by then and the walk was pretty nice. Dinner was ready almost as soon as I got home. I only had time for a brief pillow fight with Colin. He was upset about having to give the computer to Eric, but frustration turned to mirth once there was a target for the pillows.

After dinner I played several rounds of mancala against Lydia, while also playing catch with Eric. Then Lydia wanted to play badminton outside, but it was raining too heavily, so we brought the Switch upstairs and played Minecraft instead. We spawned in a bamboo forest and dug a home in the side of a ravine. After a lot of digging, I went outside, dyed a sheep yellow, and sheared enough wool to craft two yellow beds so we could finally set our spawn points in case we die. I was disappointed I couldn't also dye the panda bear.

In tonight's limited reading I learned that caisse claire means snare drum, and also learned vrille, which means tendril, gimlet, or tailspin.

We got an email from the high school today saying Rachel had qualified for Spanish 4, and that her enrollment had been updated to match. This checked out. Her teacher had told her the assessments had gone missing, and that they should all enroll in Spanish 3 while awaiting results. The course catalog only has two more classes beyond Spanish 4, AP language and culture and AP literature. So, perhaps Rachel will only get three more years of Spanish. We'll see.

Nicole bought tickets today for her and Rachel to travel to Idaho for the weekend of May 7, to attend her mom's graduation ceremony. Mary hasn't yet defended her dissertation, but will soon, and can walk beforehand. Nicole was torn because May 8 is Mother's Day, but ultimately decided to spend it with her mom instead of trying to come back in time to spend it with the rest of her children. They'll fly on Thursday evening and return Monday morning.
