Lascours Lockdown, Day 513

Monday, August 9th. Happy Anniversary to Roy & Nicole!

Today was a day of miscellaneous things. It has gotten hot again. Even the breeze is warm, not at all refreshing.
After breakfast, I straightened up outside a bit. I lifted the planter boxes off the astroturf and back into place. Then, I raked the astroturf to get as many pine needles and globs of cement out as possible. It looks much better. The girls mostly hung out in their rooms reading all morning.
I did the exercise bike, then hung a few paintings for the girls with Command strips. I need to stock up again as there are more paintings to hang.
I finished off the morning with putting in our grocery order and sorting through the stuff on the upstairs bookshelf as we're going to move it to Laureva's room to make way for the new TV cabinet.
This afternoon, I went to physical therapy. Then, Laureva and I dropped Maeva off at her friend Stella's house for a playdate and then headed up to Aix. We picked out a host gift for Mary and Ben at one of Mary's favorite local gourmet shops, then stopped on the Cours Mirabeau for some Puyricard ice cream. Laureva had chocolate ice cream and I had coconut sorbet. Both were delicious. Before picking Maeva up, we stopped at the nursery for a hibiscus plant. Lilou's grandma told the girls that her tortoises love to eat hibiscus flowers, so Laureva has been lobbying for a plant. We also stopped at the pharmacy. However, I was confused about whether the masks I was looking at were the equivalent of N95s, so I didn't get any. After a bit of online research this evening, I've now figured out that the French equivalent is an FFP2, so I should be better equipped to make a purchase next time I'm at a pharmacy.
When we got to Stella's house, her dad reported that Maeva had been stung by a wasp. She came out holding a tissue to her left buttock. There was no swelling and only a tiny red spot, so I think she'll be fine. She showered and put a bit of cortisone cream on it, which she claimed helped reduce the pain.
While the girls had dinner, I repotted some plants. Then we continued our stories. Holmes and Watson are on the train to Dartmoor and Holmes has just brought Watson up to speed on the case.
I think I forgot to mention Saturday that Jimmy had taught Laureva how to open a bottle of wine and serve properly. She went around serving everyone during Saturday lunch. She didn't want her picture taken, but I snapped a few anyway because she was so cute.

Precisely. I said I'd be very happy to have a wine steward for a daughter!
