Saturday, August 28th.
The girls made crêpes for breakfast so Max could have some when he got up. The girls I started in on the pizza project.
Max got up about 10 and ate crêpes while playing games with the girls. They played a couple rounds of the hen and fox detective game, followed by some Jungle Speed.
Penny sent a text that she was back home a day before the rest of her family. I invited her to pizza lunch with us. Afterwards, she left with Nigel.
I made four pizzas: the Laurema, the Tanya (smoked trout), the Max (mushroom, feta, capers), and the Sylvain-Penny (anchovy, roquefort, capers).
In the afternoon, Max went swimming with the girls. They made him play quite a few different games. In one, they held on and he had to try to shake them off.
I left briefly to pick up an extra grocery order and found them playing Mario Kart upon my return. Max and Sylvain left about 5:15 to join Franck for the OM vs Saint Etienne game in Marseille. Sylvain decided to go after all. They took N95 masks with them.
At about 6, the girls heard fifes and drums and noticed a truck of them heading up the drive. We hadn't been expecting them as Sylvain had told me the festival committee wasn't doing aubades this year. Luckily, I had a fridge full of beer from my grocery pickup, so we had something to offer them. They gave us our traditional program and pen and two crêpe paper bouquets for the girls. We listened to our special aubade, and they were off again to finish their rounds. Information on the program stipulates masks and health passes are required for all events.
The girls played a little more Switch before dinner and I talked to Fred on the phone. She and Vincent went to the opening apéro on the course yesterday. There was a station for scanning health passes and a sign about the mask requirement. However, she said not a single person on the cours was actually wearing one. I'm planning to limit our participation to only the hour of the cavalcade tomorrow morning.
I was tired and turned in early at 9:30. Max and Sylvain arrived home at 4am.
